FAQ’s

Patients very often have questions about their condition, scheduling a visit, and what to expect during their appointment. The team at Simcoe County Chiropractic Clinic in Barrie, Ontario have listed some of the most common questions patients ask their chiropractors in Barrie.

1. Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor?

No. Chiropractors are primary care providers so there is no referral required. You can just call in and make an appointment.

2. Does the treatment hurt?

That is a loaded question. The treatment itself is as gentle as possible and most people find it quite comfortable. In fact, we get many people returning for maintenance adjustments when they are not in pain. When you are in severe discomfort on your first few visits after an accident etc., you may feel pain just simply due to the fact that you came in in distress. To avoid this in the future, try to come in before you are in such bad shape.

3. How do I know if I need an assessment?

Everyone can use an assessment. When I do an assessment, I check everything I can to look for proper function. If I find something, I will let you know. If I find something that is working properly, I will let you know that too. This assessment will give us a baseline to look at when you do have a problem. Some people will need more treatment and some will need less treatment based on what is picked up in their assessments. Just like everyone should have a dentist, everyone should have a chiropractor. If you do need treatment you will get it. If you don’t need treatment then we will check it again at a later date.

4. Is it a good idea to get a massage on the day of my adjustment?

The answer is yes. With very few exceptions getting a massage on the day of your adjustment will help your muscles loosen and add to the beneficial effects of your adjustment. If you are unsure ask us and we will tell you when it is wise not to do both on the same day. For now, assume it is a great idea unless we tell you otherwise.

5. What are orthotics?

Orthotics are small appliances that fit into your shoes like an insole, and through their design, support your foot for optimal function. Orthotics are often a part of a comprehensive treatment plan to get a patient in line for optimal function.

6. Are the services of chiropractic covered by insurance?

Yes. The services of a chiropractor are covered by most major insurance companies. The services of a massage therapist and even custom orthotics are covered. You will need to look into your own plan to see if you have purchased coverage for these services, but most of them have some coverage. We will provide you with all of the paperwork you need to satisfy your insurance provider.

7. Why should I choose this chiropractor?

There are many chiropractors in the Barrie area. Most of them are excellent choices, but Dr. Ron is a caring and dedicated professional that is always interested in the well-being of his patients. Treatment programs are fair and useful and geared towards the improvement of the condition and not designed for the benefit of the doctor. This is a very important feature to look for when choosing a chiropractor.

8. When is my child old enough to see a chiropractor?

The answer is as soon as you are comfortable with the idea. Chiropractors can treat newborns and assess for birth trauma very early, but sometimes the thought of another doctor treating the baby is too much for a new parent. We can look at your child and treat as necessary as early as you are ready. We are much more gentle on children than their parents so you can be comfortable.

9. What is needed in order to see a chiropractor?

Absolutely nothing. All you need to do is show up. The rest is up to you. You can explain to the doctor what your problem is and go from there. No referral is necessary.

10. Who is the best chiropractor in Barrie?

Well Dr. Ron Linzner of course!! (Sorry I had to slip that in)!!

11. Do you do direct billing to insurance companies?

Yes we do. We can now bill direct to several insurance companies. We can bill all auto insurers and many extended health insurance companies. To find out if yours is one of them please give us a call. More insurers are coming online all the time so your may be available already. If we direct bill for you, you can keep your money in your pocket!

12. What is the difference between a chiropractor and a physiotherapist?

While both professions treat musculoskeletal conditions, only a chiropractor is a doctor allowing him/her to diagnose and treat the condition. The physiotherapist is able to use many modalities like ultrasound and interferential current. The chiropractor can use all these modalities also but, is able to perform manipulation of the joints when necessary. The physiotherapist may perform limited adjustments if they have some extra training.

13. What makes this office different?

That is a tough question to answer from this side of the equation, but I guess it just comes down to personal service. Dr Ron know every patient by name and takes the time to get to know them. This helps him deliver personal care as well as diagnose the conditions in the first place.
